Blog #10- Self Reflection

(1) How do you think you are doing so far in your senior project and why?
I think at the moment I deserve a low AP, I forgot to do some blogs but once I do them I think I deserve and AP because I've been doing my things but not as well I can possibly do the.
(2) What one thing do you think you have done well on and why?
The one thing I think I have done well in was My research, because I've never missed a research check.
(3) What is one thing you would like to improve on and why?
One thing i could improve would be not procrastinating and doing everything on time.

Blog #7- Independent Component 1 Plan Approval  Independent Component

(1) For my independent study component I plan on playing in my church choir every weekend and during the week in order to complete my 30 hours.
(2)The independent component would be done quite quickly. Every Sunday I will get at church early at 10am then practice until 11:40 with the choir then play a mass from 12:15pm to 1:20pm then play another mass from 1:45pm to 3pm. I will do this every Sunday. In addition to that on Wednesday's I will play at a youth group from 7 to 8.
(3) My independent study component ties into my EQ because in order to become an accomplished guitar player you need constant practice and learn to play along other instruments and with other people as well as on your own. It is good to be versatile when  your goal is to become an accomplished guitar player.

Blog #6- Defining the Essential Question

1.) What is the best way to become an accomplished guitar player?
2.) By accomplished, I don't mean jaw-dropping awesome guitar skills but knowing to play along with other instruments and playing any assigned set of chords on request. In other words, knowing enough to not make a fool of yourself in front of an audience.
3.) My first answer and I think the most important would be learning to play along other, very important if you want to pursue this as a hobby or career. My second answer would be set consistent hours for practice and improvement, practicing would be repeating what you've previously learned and improving would be trying out something knew. My third and final answer would be have a mentor to guide you along because learning on your own is no easy task you need someone more experienced to guide you along.
4.) My most important so far has been a man named Ryan Shore, he will be the second person I will interview because even though I haven't interviewed him yet he's been a great help giving me ideas and places to where I can go. He was recommended to me by Purther and is a old Ipolyian.

3. What company or career do you work in and how does it tie in with guitar playing?

4. Is guitar the thing you will continue to pursue as your main Carter or as a hobby?

5. Did you ever take any form of guitar lessons? If not, what paths did you take to learn what you needed to learn?

6. What is required of a person in order to become an accomplished guitar player?

Blog#4- Presentation Reflection

1.   My first interview didn't really help my presentation at all because I presented on something I've know for a while. I presented on tunic a guitar which was one of the first things that I learned. I might have learned how to tune by ear and with another instrument by the person I first interviewed but the interview itself did not help.

2.  I think everything I said during my presentation was important, well maybe not to everyone but to those interested in guitars. It was important because even though it's a small thing it really impacts quite greatly in an end result.

3.  I think the most difficult thing to do was to have to stand up there and talk because I get nervous. At one point I got nervous and got stumped, I just didn't know what to talk about but I regained it. It's hard to focus on what you learned when everyone is looking at you.

Blog #3- Presentation 1

Objective:
For my 5 minute presentation I will be talking about the importance of tuning a guitar. Many people aren't well acquainted with everything necessary to make a guitar sound good per say.

Procedure:
First Minute:
I will introduce myself and my topic then right off the bat start by asking all the people in the classroom what is the difference between a tuned guitar and an untuned guitar? Can you play with an untuned guitar? I will receive a few answers then move on.

Second Minute:
I will begin explaining that there is a standard tuning to guitar but that it can vary according to what the musician needs. I will explain the difference of dropping a tone and just flat out untuning it.

Third Minute:
I will explain the importance of the pegs which is what is used to tune the guitar, without it you will be unable to tune your guitar.

Fourth Minute:
I will explain the tension in the strings and what too much stress can do too strings or how ineffective loose strings can be and show and tell what a tuner is.

Fifth Minute:
I will recap on everything I talked about and check that they know what I taught them by asking them what it is that they learned or specific questions of what I had asked.

Check for Understanding
I will ask them questions about things that I went over during my presentation. Ask them to point out what is what on the guitar pertaining to my presentation and the need for certain things.

Resource
As my visual aid I will have my guitar with a broken peg to show the importance in having a peg to tune the guitar and a tuner. The tuner is a small device that when turned on can allow you to know where it is you want your guitar to be at. Throughout the presentation I will be walking them through how to tune the guitar or point out parts of the guitar.

Blog #2: Interview 1 Preperation

For my first interview I will be interviewing my choir leader Carlos Hernandez. I chose him as my interview because of his long time playing not only guitar but piano as well. He gives guitar lessons on his own time as a side job. He is one of the main people that have further allowed me to extend my knowledge on playing the guitar. Other then the questions already assigned I would ask him what it was that encouraged him to begin playing the guitar. What obstacles did you have as you continued to progress in your musical talent? Was there anyone that pushed you into learning or was it your own choice? Have you ever taken any lessons or were you self taught?

Blog #1: Senior Project Topic

My main topic would be guitars, then that would be broken down into the the playing and construction of guitars. I've been playing guitar for about 4 to 5 years now and in a choir for about 3 and it's something I really enjoy doing. I want to do my senior project on something I might still be doing in the future and because it's enjoyable. I plan to use this in my future because it seems not like a main career I will choose to pursue but it's something I will continue to do on the side.
